The Orchard and Apple Store
The self service apple store is open daily, in season, for 9:00 am to 7 pm. We sell apples by the half and full peck bags. Bushels can be boxed on advance request. Our apple season generally starts around the 20th of August with Beacon and Red Duchess apples. U-Pick and apple cider making is available by appointment An apple grinder and a fruit press are available for use. A half gallon jug, a mix of apples and the equipment are generally available for a nominal fee.
Red Duchess: Juicy, good eating apple. Great for pies, cider and jelly. Available around August 20th
Beacon: (Malinda/Wealthy cross) Wonderful eating apple! Available around August 25th.
Hazen: (Duchess/Starking Delicious cross). Mild flavor, pleasant for eating, cooking, and desserts. Available around Sept. 5th
Northern Lights: (Haralson/McIntosh cross). Large, slightly tart apples. Good for eating and cooking. Available around Sept 15/20th.
Red Baron: (Golden Delicious/Daniels Red cross). Crisp, juicy, and pleasantly acidic. Great for eating, pies and sauce. A good keeper under refrigeration. Available around Sept. 20th
Sweet Sixteen: (MN447/Northern Spy cross). Yellow flesh, very sweet, crisp and juicy with an aromatic flavor. An excellent dessert apple. Available around Sept. 20/25th
Haralred: Juicy, tart, firm apple and a good keeper. Redder and sweeter than a Haralson. Available after October 1st. (Best after a light frost)
Haralson: (Malinda/Ben Davis cross). Tart, juicy and crisp fruit. A great pie apple! Keeps well. Available after October 1st. (Best after a light frost).
Honey Crisp: (Macoun/Honeygold cross). Sweet, exceptionally crisp and juicy apple. Stores well and is an excellent eating apple. Available late September/early October. (Sold out for 2008)
